NOTE: This
is the original YSR build. Since this bike has since been
taken over by my wife and business partner, Jordan, a new
bike will be constructed from the ground up later in the
build.

The original bike as I saw it on
Ebay

At least it looks complete

The motor looks pretty clean

Parts, parts, parts! Might need some
of these
These are pictures
of the original bike that I purchased off of Ebay. The total
cost to buy the bike and have it shipped from California
to Dallas was $650.00.. I considered myself lucky to get
it for that price. I didn't realize how lucky until I took
the motor apart for a rebuild and noticed that there was
almost no wear on it. Pretty much all the parts were there,
except for a few odds and ends, so in the end it was a great
deal.

The rusted frame before media blasting
This was the
frame parts before sandblasting. There was a layer of surface
rust and grime from the years of neglect, and dried 2 stroke
oil.

Lots of surface rusting
This close up
gives a much better idea of what I had to work with. I had
a little bit of uneasiness in my stomach when I saw it,
but I felt confident that I could make it shine!

The clean frame, free of rust
This is the frame
as it came back to me from Able Sandblasting in Dallas TX.
These guys did a great job and the price was very reasonable.
If you need quality work done, then I suggest you go here,
as the work is great and the price is right.

First primer coat
This is the frame
after the first coat of primer. It is on our frame painting
stand. Getting into all the nooks and crannies of the frame
was difficult, but patience pays off as you will see later.

Second primer coat
Here is the frame
again after the second primer coat. It really makes a difference
over the bike I received.
With the frame
blasted and primered it was ready for paint. Unfortunately
I don't have any pics of the process, but what follows is
the frame assembled with the motor after final paint was
laid on the frame.

Painted and assembled
As you can see
here, the color is definitely bright! The forks have yet
to be painted, as I am waiting on a new set that has been
rebuilt to arrive so I can get them off to paint.

That's a bright green!
The green and
black colors really set each other off and provide a nice
contrast. Much of the green will be covered by the bodywork
when it is done, but enough will remain visible for good
impact.

Subtle color changes
This image shows
how the green color changes slightly from deep green to
bright neon lime in the sunlight. It was an added benefit
that I didn't expect!

Wow that gets bright!
Here is more
of that chameleon effect that is clearly visible. This side
of the bike was closer to the sun when the photos were taken.

Powder coated engine
The engine was
completely rebuilt. It has been powder coated black and
gold anodized socket screws made of aircraft aluminum were
used to reassemble it for a little added flash.

Polished cylinder head
The engine from
the other side is just as clean. Too bad it will have to
come out to make way for the engine eventually. That is,
unless my wife gets her way and this bike becomes hers.
If that happens, don't fret. I would just build a new bike
for the jet to go into. Yes, it would still be a YSR. Then
we could ride together. Come to think of it, I think I'll
start looking for a second bike now, just to avoid the rush
later!

Jordan with the bike for size comparison
Here is the bike
along with my wife. As you can see, the bike is larger than
a pocket bike. With the plastics on, the bike is even bigger,
and the seat sits about 3 inches higher that the frame rail
in the back. You sit right above the black upper frame member
in the back of the bike. Also clearly visible is the mount
for the dash and the front fairing protruding from the front
of the steering stem. The plastics go from there all the
way to behind the black frame member in the back. It is
only 16 inches shorter in length when compared to my GSX-R
600 and about 6 inches shorter in seat height. As you can
see, it will fit someone larger (like myself) but is perfectly
suited to a person of smaller stature, like my 5 ft tall
wife. Yeah, I had better buy another one, as she says this
one is hers. At least I can use it for testing purposes,
so stay tuned on that. Yes, that is a DG race pipe on the
bike. Also, yes I have driven it by attaching a small auxiliary
gas tank to it, and it is fast. It will pull up the front
tire in first and second. Not bad for a 50cc engine that
was rebuilt with no manuals huh? P.S. Did I mention the
bike arrived with all the parts completely disassembled?
It was apparently the cheapest way it could be shipped here.
I had to figure out where every nut and bolt went with no
clue as to a starting point. Not too bad, but I wouldn't
recommend it to most.
Special Thanks
to Felipe for the great deal on the bike and his diligence
in getting it here with all of the shipping problems that
UPS gave him. They made him disassemble the entire bike
to ship it, but it all arrived fine. Thanks again Felipe!
