The 1963 Chevy Nova project car |
Welcome back
to the Chevy Nova build. It is about time the old girl gets
a new coat of paint, and that is right where we are at in
this installment of the build. After careful consideration
from a whole world of colors, a charcoal type gray metallic
was decided upon. Although not yet complete, what is done
is looking very nice.

The front of the old gal
To make sure
that every nook and cranny on the car gets the paint it
is supposed to have, all of the interior parts that are
painted are hit first. It is much easier to go this route,
then paint the outside later when it is easier to tape off
the inside parts so they don't get overspray.

Underside of hood
The new cowl
hood took the paint well, and will blend in seamlessly with
the metal of the main body. A custom gauge plate will be
fabricated to go under the cowl so that gauges such a nitrous
pressure and oil pressure will be visible under it through
the front windshield.

Engine compartment and firewall
There is lots
of room in this nice big engine compartment, and it looks
great to boot. The gray is a perfect compliment to the engine,
and it just so happens that it is the favorite color of
the engine that will be living there. Good thing too, as
we wouldn't want the engine to be unhappy.

Dash
The front of
the car looks great, and if any indication of how the rest
of the car turns out, it will be a masterpiece.

Inside of door panel
The inside of
the door panels was hit and the top of the doors received
a nice shiny coat as well. The new interior panels will
look good with the color.

Inside rear panel
Just like the
doors, the rear panels got a nice coat to finish them off,
paying special attention to the area at the top which will
remain visible.

The trunk lid
The underside
of the trunk lid gets a nice coat of paint as well, so that
it will look good when it sits open to show that nitrous
bottle at the car shows. The rest of the trunk was sprayed
as well, and this completes the majority of the inside paint
work for now.

The rear
The next step
will be to give her a couple of good coats on the outside
and follow up with a clear. The end result should be pretty
spectacular for a single color car. The paint shines and
shimmers in all the right ways. The color is being applied
now, and should be done just in time for the next update.
Keep checking
in, as the car is due back within a week with all new paint.
As soon as it gets here, there will be an update. Until
then, thanks for reading this far, and we hope to see you
again soon.
